The Museum was founded in 1956 by Marguerite Fawdry, moved to its current home in 1969 and is run today by Marguerite’s granddaughter. The museum is dedicated to the history of children’s toys, with the unique setting helping to evoke a feeling of childhood. The museum is located across two adjoining houses, comprising small rooms joined by narrow, winding staircases which give the museum a distinctive, intimate feel.
Pollock’s Toy Museum houses an eclectic mix of toys from through the ages, including board games, mechanical toys, dolls, Teddy bears, puppets and construction toys. There is also a toy shop on site – so parents, beware! Just because you’ve already gone to Hamleys doesn’t mean your kids’ shopping for the day is over!
