The Tower of London is a must see tourist attraction just outside Tower Hill Tube Station.

 

It dates back to 1066 so has the prestigious honour of being a World Heritage Site. It is officially known as Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress.  Over the years the castle has  acted as a palace for the English monarchy; a London-protecting fortress; and a prison to the country’s highest-status prisoners, including members of the Royal Family.

 

The Tower has also housed the United Kingdom’s Queens crown jewels for over seven hundred years. The Tower of London’s main attractions include the White Tower; the Crown Jewels; the Beefeaters’ guided tour; the ravens; the prisoners exhibition; Lady Jane Grey’s graffiti; the Medieval Palace;  and a collection of King Henry VIII’s armour.
