Geffrye Museum, 136 Kingsland Road, Shoreditch, London E2 8EA

The Geffrye Museum in Shoreditch is one of London’s best small museums. The Geffrye Museum offers free admission to London tourists and shows the evolution of British interior design from 1600 to the modern day.

The Geffrye Museum is one of the most popular London attractions with those tourists fascinated by design.

The Geffrye Museum displays the evolution of British interior design from the beginning of the 17th Century through to now, with a series of period rooms charting the ages. The rooms will enlighten London tourists with their collections of textiles, furniture, paintings and decorative arts. British design’s most acclaimed periods – including the Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian periods – are all well represented.

The Geffrye Museum is housed in the 18th century almhouses of the Ironmongers’ Company. These almhouses have been awarded Grade I listed status in recognition of their national-historical significance. The period gardens are particularly popular. The annual Christmas Past exhibition – where 400 years of English Christmas traditions are beautifully displayed – is an ever-popular attraction.
